An Associate Professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine, Shawneequa is a researcher and professor who analyzes the ethical, legal, and social implications of emerging medical technologies. She teaches various courses related to bioethics and health law, participates on numerous national and international committees, and serves as a Special Volunteer at the Center for Research on Genomics and Global Health, the National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health.

Shawneequa holds degrees from Princeton University (BA), Monash University--Melbourne, Australia (MA Bioethcs), and The Georgetown University Law Center (JD). She received the GREAT Award, National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), on October 27, 2017. She is married to Robert Reed Jr. and pet parent of their Boerboel, Kane Reed.
